Oppboga Prominent brings colours to life

Swift and Swift is a luxury packaging consultancy in the north of England that works with selected designers, printers and material suppliers to produce bespoke packaging for premium brands.

For the independent whisky bottler Wemyss Malts, Swift and Swift produced three attention-grabbing cartons. Their artful design and chosen colours truly reflect the taste of each Blended Malt, which Wemyss Malts describes as follows:

The Hive captures the sweetness of Speyside in a smooth, honey-like expression.

Spice King bundles aromatic spice, maritime and citrus notes.

Peat Chimney captures the allure of smoke, rich in smoky maritime and citrus notes.

The consultancy’s philosophy is to relentlessly pursue smarter and better solutions for their clients. So, when Wemyss Malts approached them to breathe more life into the colours, Swift and Swift decided to use Oppboga Prominent™ for its outstanding print performance.

“We have used this triple coated paperboard in 800mic (500gsm) for other luxury spirit packaging customers and had very positive experiences with it”, says Sean Mirner, Senior Packaging Consultant at Swift and Swift. “The smooth, white surface of the board adds real vibrancy to the colours.”

The surface smoothness also makes it ideal for applying a laminate to the outside of the carton to protect the box in transit.

Another advantage of using Oppboga Prominent™ is its premium fibre composition (CTMP) that provides a bulky but light paperboard. As a consequence, Wemyss Malts was presented with a new carton that was some 20 % lighter in weight than before, resulting in cost and environmental benefits.
